Annika Urm food review: Restaurant 'O' by Paco Roncero Suprise Millennial Olive Tree @ Anantara Villa Padierna Palace Hotel, 2019

I (Annika Urm food review) and Veiko Huuse visited the new restaurant ‘O’ by Paco Roncero in August 2019 in Marbella, Spain. We enjoyed this new gastronomic concept in a privileged location on the hills of the Costa del Sol, Spain, and the Mediterranean, part of the facilities of Anantara Villa Padierna Palace Benahavis Marbella Resort, an oasis with historic charm.

On the other hand, it was lovely having a glass of welcome champagne and looking menus in different welcome areas. It was very special.

We had a surprise entrance over the Millennial Olive trees with free different tasting experiences. We had to go over the trees and the waitress explained to us what taste exactly each olive has and how they are different. They all taste good and special with a slightly bitter touch that differentiates them one from another.

Left up: Pigeon in civet with fritter and cream of foie gras; Cuttlefish in onions with polenta and old cheese; Rhubarb soup with strawberries and confited kumquat
Then got to chose a la Carte Menu with 3 option starter, fish/meat, dessert
  • Red prawn ravioli with iodizes martins shrimp broth
  • BBQ Retinta cow rib with souffle potatoes
  • Rhubarb soup with strawberries and confited kumquat
  • Cuttlefish in onions with polenta and old cheese
  • Pigeon in civet with fritter and cream of foie gras
  • Rhubarb soup with strawberries and confited kumquat

We also had a different wine to each plate and they were the perfect match in each case, giving an extra touch to the food.

Every plate, every meal, every drink were just divineThe red prawn ravioli felt so fresh and was not pasta ravioli –The name can be confusing-, but they explained to us when ordering the food. But the taste was new and fresh and exotic.

Oh! and the cuttlefish, I just loved it, and of course, there was the foie gras with a touch of champagne mmmm fantastic.

The pigeon was a fresh and had an exotic taste you can’t get a pigeon this god anywhere, it was very special. Furthermore, Rhubarb soup was amazing.
